Elizabeth's Gourmet Coffee and Tea Shop now celebrating two decades of being in business...
It was 20 year's ago today (Oct. 29, 1989) when Elizabeth McNeight
first opened the doors of the first Elizabeth's Gourmet Coffee and Tea
Shop on McKinley Parkway in the Town of Hamburg.
Since then McNeight's store has moved two times, growing a little
larger each time, allowing her to offer more products to her customers.
Her most recent move is to 5930 South Park Avenue, just south of the
entrance to the Erie County Fairgrounds.
One notices right away the openness of the location, with decks around
the building for customers to enjoy their coffee or tea outside on
those sunny days. For those who want to enjoy the outdoors without
being outside there is a seasonal glassed and screened-in patio
located at the back of the building.
The interior of the store is also more spacious, with room for tables
and chairs and artfully displayed merchandise.
One room is dedicated to a plethora of teas, loose or bagged, along
with an assortment of accessories for the tea lover.
Then there are the coffees, more than 150 of them. There are regular,
speciality, flavored, decaffeinated and unflavored Swiss water
decaffeinated coffees. The list goes on and on.
McNeight also has a full service espresso bar, cappuccinos, hot teas,
chai, ice tea and hot coffees that can be enjoyed there or on the go.
Then there are the cookies, biscotti and more cookies to munch while
one sips one's drink.
An added feature are the tea events that McNeight's daughter Laura
Archambault hosts.
These are for adults and for children and are held on and off location.
"We include finger sandwiches (appropriate to the age groups), scones,
clotted cream, jams, dessert, shortbread cookies and of course the
tea," said Archambault.
There are also a large selection of gift items, including quality
china tea cups, pots, mugs and gift items, many specific to the coffee
and tea drinker.
"The tea cozy's and placemats I sell here are all made in Western New
York and she has been with me almost as long as I've been in
business," said McNeight.
Elizabeth's also will create individual gift baskets, which can be
sent out worldwide.
For Christmas delivery there is a Dec. 10 deadline for items which
need to be shipped a great distance. Local deliveries (within 3 miles)
can be ordered up to Dec. 23.
To celebrate her 20th anniversary, from Thursday Oct. 29 through
Saturday, Oct. 31, customers will receive 20 percent off one item in
the store (excluding the Kona Hawaii and Jamaican Blue Mountain
coffees).
Currently she is selling tickets to Christmas in the Country, for
Thursday, Nov. 5 through Sunday, Nov. 8 and with each ticket she is
offering a coupon for 10 percent off items in the store (excluding the
Kona Hawaii and Jamaican Blue Mountain coffees).
Elizabeth's will also be holding an open house during the holiday
season and they will extend their business hours after Thanksgiving,
Nov. 26.
The store is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
In addition, orders can be placed by calling 648-2114 or toll free at
1-877-648-2114.
