Hamburg woman helped with 'Extreme Makeover' project in Buffalo
The City of Buffalo and the Western New York community showed Hollywood what community really means as thousands of people recently came together to help lend a hand to Delores Powell and her children. And while most people are familiar with the work of Ty Pennington and the rest of the crew from the “Extreme Makeover” Home Edition” television show, one local woman was among those who contributed to such a heart-warming story.

Tracey Palisano of Hamburg was the head seamstress for the Buffalo edition of the show. She handled the sewing of the pillows and window treatments for the project.

“I was completely honored to have been asked to participate,” said Palisano, who is the owner of Sewcreative, her own business.

Palisano spent nearly 60 hours last week helping with the head designers and other seamstresses, working endlessly on the window treatments and other projects.

“It was the most amazing project I have ever worked on,” said Palisano. “Everyone was so happy to be helping this family.”

“The Big Reveal” of the finished home took place last Saturday (Nov. 14) afternoon after the Powell family returned from a vacation in Florida. The surprises did not just end with their new home as the family was given one years worth of snacks from Rich Products, a completely stocked refrigerator from Tops Markets and West-Herr Ford donated a brand new Ford Fusion.
Another surprise that the family received were full scholarships to attend Canisius College for all four children and Delores.

Look for the special Buffalo edition of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition to air on ABC sometime in January.
