First Ambush Makeover held in Springville
Springville’s first Ambush Makeover took place on May 2. Christy Bottoms of Medusa Salon and Mary James and Casie Talbot of Rhapsody’s have been planning this ongoing event over the past few months.
The event will showcase Springville in a new light and reveal the hip and trendy side of the town.
The first makeover was done on Jane Baker of West Valley. She was given a whole new look. At Medusa her hair was straightened and she received an updated cut and color, as well as a new makeup application. Then she went on to My Best Friend’s Closet to be fitted with a new top from Guess™, earrings and a handbag. Next came Rhapsody’s, where Jane’s ’mom jeans’ were confiscated and she was given a pair of low rise Lucky™ Brand capris, a heeled shoe and accessories. She was given a facial and massage from Townsend East and a foot spa from Nature’s Remedy. In all, Jane received more than $800 in products and services. After the makeover, she looked 10 years younger and was not recognizable even to friends who had known her for years.
Each month, a new Ambush Makeover contestant will be chosen. Those who wish to be considered should watch the Springville Journal each week for clues to the next ambush location.
The makeovers will be placed on YouTube as well as on each business’s Facebook page and Web site. There will also be a blog where community members can vote for their favorite ambush makeover. The individual with the most votes will win a grand prize package.
