Good News for St. Bonaventure women's basketball team...
Gensler has spent the previous two years at Providence College where he served as a Graduate Assistant for the women’s basketball program. In that role, he oversaw the team managers/scout team, coordinated film exchange and editing, scheduled visiting team practices and the Friars’ practice schedule on the road.
Prior to his arrival at the BIG EAST school, Gensler worked with the women’s basketball program at Saint Joseph’s University. He served three seasons as a scout team member and two seasons as the program’s head manager.
“Ryan’s attitude, experience and work ethic will help our program immediately,” Crowley said. “He is a basketball person who knows our University, our conference and our region very well.”
In April 2010, Gensler served as a manager and practice player for the USA Basketball Women’s National Team at its training camp under head coach Geno Auriemma.
Gensler has also has worked various basketball camps over the last three summers, including Duke, Le Moyne and Saint Joseph’s. A Fayetteville, N.Y. native, Gensler graduated from Christian Brothers Academy in 2005 where he played alongside former Duke point guard Greg Paulus, helping guide CBA to a Section III Class AA sectional title.
Gensler earned his bachelor’s degree in political science from Saint Joseph’s in 2009, and completed his master’s degree in education, guidance and counseling from Providence in May. He will begin his position immediately as he fills the coaching vacancy left by the departure of Jesse Fleming to Stony Brook last month.
