With latest expansion, Buffalo MRI now offers complete women’s imaging services.

he spa-like facility, located in Snyder Place Plaza at 4925 Main Street in Amherst, has now added soft digital mammography and bone density to the multitude of services provided for female patients. In addition to these new modalities, they also offer; 3T breast MRI, open breast MRI, breast ultrasound, MRI breast biopsy, ultrasound breast biopsy, and stereotactic breast biopsy.

This $500,000 investment now completes Buffalo MRI’s $10.5 million expansion project which began in October of 2008. In Phase 1, the company moved into a new 13,000 square foot spa-like facility in Amherst. “Now, with the addition of Digital Mammography and Bone Density to our current imaging services, we offer women the latest technology and absolute best care available in the field of women’s imaging and specifically, breast imaging,” said Kevin Burns, COO. “We’ve combined the world’s finest imaging technology in a spa-like environment. We’re offering our patients an unparalleled health care experience.”

Uzma Alam, MD has been appointed as the Director of Women’s Imaging.

Dr. Alam comes to Buffalo MRI with extensive experience as a breast imaging expert, specializing in Digital Mammography, Breast Ultrasound, Breast MRI, and Breast Biopsies. “When we made the decision to offer complete women’s imaging services at Buffalo MRI, we had three goals in mind. First, we had to provide the latest technology available in breast imaging. Second, we had to continue to provide our patients with the personal attention, privacy, and respect that they trust us to provide. And most importantly, we had to provide breast imaging expertise and accurate results,” said Colleen M. Burns, CEO. “Dr. Alam provides our patients a complete continuum of breast imaging services, which is unique in WNY.”

Buffalo MRI is owned and operated by siblings Colleen and Kevin Burns, whom have been in the diagnostic imaging business for over 16 years. With this latest expansion, Buffalo MRI has added 4 new employees, including a Lead Mammography Technologist with over 10 years experience. With these new employees, Buffalo MRI has nearly doubled it’s workforce in the last 18 months. “We’re hiring in Western New York at a time when jobs are hard to come by. We’re very proud of that.” says Colleen Burns.

Buffalo MRI is open Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. – 10:30 p.m. and Saturday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. In addition to Mammography, Bone Density, Biopsies, 3T and Open MRI, Buffalo MRI also offers CT, walk-in X-Ray, Fluoroscopy, and Ultrasound.
