I am completely and utterly fascinated with bizarre holidays; in fact I want to know where I can get a job coming up with these ridiculous holidays because I think - NO – I know that I’d make a killing.

Despite those being fantastic ideas for celebration I did not make them up. These “holidays” are listed on brownielocks.com, a website that lists every traditional and non-traditional holiday by day, week and month of each year.
Which brings me to why I brought up the airborne cows and probing pussies. Today, February 22, 2012 just so happens to be a holiday that I feel deserves just as much recognition as they do.
Today is National Inconvenience Yourself Day.
NIYD was created so that we can not only recognize a person’s self awareness in life, but also acknowledge other people’s lives and actions. To give us a friendly reminder that while there are times where you need to put yourself first, on this day, we are to try to put someone else before ourselves.
For example, today you should:
Be there for someone else emotionally – Whether it be a hug or letting someone bend your ear
Make Children Feel Appreciated – Help your kids with homework or play with them after a long day at work
Avoid doing “me” things – Don’t take a walk, read or relax by yourself; instead you should enjoy a tea party with your kids or make time for friends
Do your best at work – Make sure that everyone you come in contact with gets the best possible assistance from you; all day.
Lastly, reflect on “Inconvenience Yourself Day” – Sit down and think about how putting other people’s needs in front of your own made you feel. But make sure you do it tomorrow because today you are not supposed to do any “me” things. If tomorrow you find that putting other people’s needs ahead of your own made you happy, then try to incorporate one of these actions into your daily routine.
Isn’t that a beautiful idea?
